Although I knew Angoras take a lot of work, it didn't matter. His home was with us. My husband was very ill at the time, but each time Sid came to visit him, my husband felt a whole lot better. He is growing out now, but our love for him is growing faster!" -Heather, San Diego, CA

this Bumblebeeacres farm in Harvard, Illinois sounds wonderful ~ their breeding animals little dogs, Himalayan cats & kittens, fancy longhair bunnies and also guinea pigs, all who they are nice to. plus felt shop they have sheep & llamas, plus vegetables to market: Bumblebeeacres Farm CSA program: "We are offering pick-up on Saturdays or Tuesdays (box must be picked up by 11am, if not it will be offered to Market customers to avoid waste) at the Woodstock Farmers' Market, located on the beautiful historic Woodstock Square. This is a wonderful option as you will be able to shop at other farm booths that may have additional items that interest you."

n.b. above click to give photostory is as appeared on Animal Rescue Site frontpage. full story has title Bunnies make the best medicine and first sentences read: "Our little English Angora, Sid, was dumped at a local shelter with mats as big as his head. The vet shaved him down to reveal a tiny 2.9 lb bunny." so I would have known it was a bunny right off. did they edit just for length or to remove unpleasant thought of the terrible mats?

"well sure I do." (after, eg, do you go to the pool a lot?)

"of course I have to clean up now." (doing dishes after making tea at toy kitchen unit.)

Upstairs from the playroom, in the kitchen, her mom is telling me about her favorite frog with a blanket body. I turn to see her carefully coming up the stairs, one step at a time, slow, forward, holding the frog...

az- The Truro Bear and Other Adventures -by Mary Oliver

There’s a bear in the Truro woods.
People have seen it - three or four,
or two, or one. I think
of the thickness of the serious woods
around the dark bowls of the Truro ponds;
I think of the blueberry fields, the blackberry tangles,
the cranberry bogs. And the sky
with its new moon, its familiar star-trails,
burns down like a brand-new heaver,
while everywhere I look on the scratchy hillsides
shadows seem to grow shoulders. Surely
a beast might be clever, be lucky, move quietly
through the woods for years, learning to stay away
from roads and houses. Common sense mutters:
it can’t be true, it must be somebody’s
runaway dog. But the seed
has been planted, and when has happiness ever
required much evidence to begin
its leaf-green breathing?

nice. skimming thr, not m engaged by these poems as poems. phrases & line breaks jar as obvious, not like thought thinking thr. I do like this one though, happily as it gives poem to the picture of the bear on the cover that I like.
fine: happiness breathes leaf-green.

and what she writes is nice. the series re her dog Percy is sweet. he does not like when she reads, no, he wouldn't. and #10 in the series: I ask Percy how I should live my life. Love, love, love. and hurry as fast as you can (why hurry? bcs fun to run?) along the shining beach, or the rubble, or the dust. Then go to sleep. Give up your body heat, your beating heart. Then trust.
good: love, love, love. be in the world. then go to sleep, give up, trust.

Kermit the Hermit

Kermit the Hermit - .billpeet.net
In Monterey Bay There's a jumble of rock

Stacked up like a castle across from a dock.

The king of this castle, an old crab called Kermit,

Lived all by himself in a cave like a hermit.

Kermit the Hermit - Wkp
One day, when Kermit attempts to gain another unnecessary thing, he is almost buried by a dog, but is saved by a poor boy. Kermit is grateful and wants to thank the boy, but cannot think of a way to do so until he finds a chest of gold. As he stores the gold pieces in his cave, he slowly gives up one thing at a time, until he has all the gold and no more possessions in his cave. With the help of the pelican, Kermit drops coins down the boy's chimney. The boy's family becomes rich and Kermit learns the value of sharing.

Mom, have you been remembering to go here everyday & click? I recommend making it a bookmark!! in your bookmark toolbar, so you see it.
and every day I have been getting to read about Animal Heroes, as below. it's awesome. lots of dogs & cats who helped their people notice a situation and avert catastrophe. I've liked every story! I wonder if the stories are saved somewhere. as far as I know so far, each story appears here for a day or less and then disappears from the internet...
and I guess the stories are about to end ~ "winner announced March 2nd" so that's tomorrow!
maybe when they announce the winner they will also show me a link to a page where all the stories are.

When you click, we display ads from our site sponsors. 100% of the money from these advertisers goes to our charity partners , who fund programs to provide food and care for rescued animals.

The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need — providing food for some of the 27 million unwanted animals given to shelters in the U.S. every year. Over 10 million animals are put to death every year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted.

Each click on the purple "Click Here to Give - it's FREE" button at The Animal Rescue Site provides food and care for a rescued animal living in a shelter or sanctuary. Funding for food and care is paid by site sponsors and distributed to animals in need at the Fund for Animals' renowned animal sanctuaries (including Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch in Texas and the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in California), pet shelters supported by the Petfinder Foundation , North Shore Animal League , and other worthy animal care facilities supported by the GreaterGood.org foundation.

100% of sponsor advertising fees goes to our charitable partners.

Hi,

I've really enjoyed your Animal Heroes contest, all the stories. I am looking but have not found a page where I can read all the entries. Is there such a page? an archive? Or could there be? I found the Rescued Animals Stories, but not the Animal Heroes ones. I'd love to be able to read & revisit those stories.

Thanks for your good work and a great site!
